NBA teams can include cash as part of a trade but are limited to $7,005,000 for all transactions during the 2023-24 season. That’s two separate figures representing what teams can take in and what they can send out.

For instance, the San Antonio Spurs have received $6.8 million in cash via trade this year (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024), limiting the team to just $320,000 left to take. But the Spurs haven’t sent out any cash in trade, with the entire balance of $7 million available if needed.
