SBC SPEAKER BIO: KIRK LACOB

Kirk Lacob is currently in his 10th season with the Golden State Warriors and his first as Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. He previously served as Assistant General Manager of Golden State for each of the past six seasons.  He also continues to serve  as Vice President, GSW Sports Ventures, a position he has held for each of the past four years.

As the  Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations, Lacob reports directly to President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Bob Myers and assists with all aspects of the team’s day-to-day basketball operations. 

As the Vice President, GSW Sports Ventures, Lacob is in charge of the organization’s esports endeavors, including the Golden Guardians and Warriors Gaming Squad, which competes in the NBA 2K League. In this role, Lacob also oversees the team’s continued efforts to develop partnerships for basketball operations and leading investments for GSW in sports-related areas.

Lacob joined the Warriors in October 2010 as the team’s director of basketball operations. In that role he supported on a variety of front office roles, including player personnel evaluation, draft preparation and scouting, as well as helping to further the use of statistics and technologies in basketball operations. He also served two years (2011-13) as the team’s player development representative with the league office, coordinating and implementing programs to aid in the overall development of players both on and off the court.

Additionally, Lacob served as the general manager of Golden State’s NBA G League team for three seasons from 2011-12 to 2013-14 and played a vital role in the team’s relocation to Santa Cruz from its former home in Bismarck, North Dakota, prior to the 2012-13 season. The transition proved to be an overwhelming success as the Santa Cruz Warriors appeared in the G League Finals in each of their first three seasons in Northern California and claimed the 2014-15 G League Championship. In 2013-14, Santa Cruz was named the league’s Development Champion, an annual award recognizing the NBA G League team that best embodies the league’s goals of developing NBA basketball talent via GATORADE Call-Ups and assignments.

A native of Woodside, Calif., Lacob graduated from Stanford University in 2010 with a degree in Science, Technology and Society.

Lacob is active in local basketball leagues and on occasion plays at San Quentin State Penitentiary. He is a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants, all things Stanford Cardinal and, most importantly
